The development of new gas resources in the eastern Mediterranean, the Caspian and the Kurdish region of Iraq is creating a new energy corridor to Turkey and Europe.
Join the Orrick Oil & Gas team for a breakfast roundtable with leading experts Dr Mehmet Öğütçü and Mr Okan Demirkan to discuss:
- the development of the Southern Gas Corridor pipeline transit routes from the Caucasus;
- new non-Russian supply from the Middle East, the eastern Mediterranean and the Kurdish region of Iraq, new FSRU projects in Turkey;
- Turkey as an energy security gateway and gas trading hub for Europe: the role of energy business diplomacy in easing geopolitical tensions; and
- investment terms for new entrants to Turkey’s LNG, gas and power markets.
Mehmet Öğütçü currently chairs Global Resources Partnership, UK, sits on the boards of Genel Energy plc, Sisecam Group and Saudi Crown Holding, serves as Special Envoy of The Energy Charter for MENA Region, and as Executive Chair of The Bosphorus Energy Club. Following a diplomatic career and term as advisor to the former Turkish President Turgut Özal, Mehmet served as a senior executive at the IEA and OECD in Paris, worked as a global director for BG Group and chairman of Invensys plc advisory board.
